Ruth Prieto Arenas is a Mexican photographer focused on the lives of female immigrants and their families, primarily in New York. Arenas shows the true and unfiltered realities of female Mexican immigrants. Arenas also spends much time photographing along the Mexican-American border on both sides. “The idea is to get away from stereotypes and clichés.” “Poor migrants struggling through the desert may be part of the story, but it's a very small part of the Mexican and Mexican-American experience.”
